Yasar Dogu International Wrestling tournament has started today in Turkey. The prestigious UWW event which till 2019 was the ranking series event is the first international event of 2020 season. The organizers have announced that Wrestlers from 14 countries are participating in the event and the lots for the same were drawn on Thursday. India’s Bajrang Punia was also scheduled to participate in the event but he cut his trip short and returned back to India due to visa issues of his personal coach Shako Baghaditis.
On the day 1 of the event men’s 57, 65, 70, 86, 97 weight elimination, semi-final; women, 50, 57, 68 kilos of qualifying, semi-final and final competitions are being held. On Saturday, the Men’s finals of the previous day weights, the Men 61, 74, 79, 92, 125 kg categories prelims and semi-finals are scheduled.
The women prelims, semi and finals in 53, 58, 65, 72 kilos categories are also scheduled for the second day of the competition. On the third and final day Men’s 61, 74, 79, 92, 125 kilos finals are scheduled.
