The Asian Beach Games which will include beach wrestling will be held in December in China. The Iran Wrestling Federation on Tuesday announced that the Asian Beach Games will be hosted in Sanya, China from December 8 to 15.
Mohammad Ibrahim Emami, the spokesman of the Iran Wrestling Federation, said in an interview, “In this meeting, the discussion was on the conditions for the presence of the national beach wrestling team in these games”.
“The sixth Asian Beach Games will be held from December 8 to 15 in Sanya, China, and the beach wrestling discipline will be awarded a quota of four weights (60, 70, 80, 90 kg),” he added.
Earlier, last month, a report suggested that Beach wrestling will be included in the Olympics from 2024 Paris Games. As per the report published by the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation, United World Wrestling (UWW) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) has agreed toi include beach wrestling as a medal sport. The report added that it will only be for women wrestlers in the four weight categories. It is being done to bring gender parity in the sport.
