In the first of the four bronze medal matches, India’s Gyanender was beaten by Uzbekistan’s Islomjon Bakhramov by 0-6 in the Greco-Roman 60kg category.
While Gyanender is a 2012 Junior National Gold medallist and last year’s Asian Championship’s bronze medallist, Bakhramov is last year’s Asian Gold medallist.
Gyanender was eager to end his tournament on a high but was beaten handsomely by Bakhramov.

It was a disappointing end for India in the 60kg category as no wrestler in this category was able to secure any medal.
Hardeep makes it three bronze for India
The last of the four bronze medal bouts on day 2 of Greco Roman for India took place between Hardeep and Beksultan Makhamadzhanovich Makhmudov of Kyrgyzstan in the 97kg category.
In the final match, Hardeep beats the wrestler from Kyrgyzstan by 3-1. Seven times National champion from India cruised past Makhmudov in a tough fought battle.
Hardeep won his second Asian Championship medal, the first one being silver in 2016.
Aditya Kundu wins the second bronze of the day for India
Next up, Commonwealth Championship 2017 gold medallist Aditya Kundu of India took on Japanese Nao Kusaka of Japan in the Greco Roman 72kg category.
Kundu was impressive in his bout against the Japanese and won the second bronze of the day for India. He defeated the 2019 Japanese champion by 8-0.
Kundu thrashed his opponent in less than two minutes.
Ashu wins bronze for India
In what was a commanding performance by the two-time Junior National Gold medallist Ashu defeated Syria’s Abdwlkarim Mohammad Alhasan by a scoreline of 6-1.
It was the second of India’s four bronze medal matches in which Abdwlkarim Mohammad Alhasan of Syria went against India’s Ashu in the Greco Roman 67kg category.
This is Ashu’s first medal in the Sr. Asian Wrestling Championship.
Ashu, Aditya, Gyanender, Hardeep to fight for bronze
Joining Ashu and Aditya, Gyanender will play the bronze medal match in the 60kg category even after he was beaten by the world champion from Japan Kenichiro Fumita in the quarterfinals.
Along with the above three, Hardeep has also made the cut to play the bronze medal match in the 97kg category.

Aditya lost semis; to play for bronze
Aditya Kundu lost to Ibragim Magomadov of Kazakhstan in what looked like a one-sided affair. Aditya could only stand 71 seconds in front of Kazakhstan’s wrestler and lost by a scoreline of 0-9.
Magomadov will be playing his first-ever gold-medal match.
Ashu to play for bronze; Harpreet’s road to glory ends
In an eventful match, Makhmud Bakhshilloev of Uzbekistan ended India’s hope as he defeated Ashu on technical grounds after the match tied on 4 points each. He will now play the bronze medal match later this evening.
After a well-fought battle, Harpreet Singh of India lost to Iranian Mahdi Asgar Ebrahimi by 7-0 in round three of the Greco-Roman 82kg category.
Aditya eyeing another medal for India
Aditya Kundu of India defeated Tajikistan’s Loiqi Amirkhonzoda by 9-0 in the 72 kg Greco Roman category to reach the semi finals.
He will now face Ibragim Magomadov of Kazakhstan in the second semi finals later in the day.
Ashu in Semis
India’s Ashu has made it to the semi-finals of the 67kg category as he thrashed unherald Fu Hao Lin of Chinese Taipei in the last 8 bout. Ashu won the bout easily by 10-0.
In the semi-finals, 2017 Cadet world silver medallist Ashu will play Makhmud Bakhshilloev of Uzbekistan. Bakhshilloev won the Rome Ranking series gold and also won the junior world championships silver medal in 2018.
Gyanender thrashed by Fumita
2019 Asian Championship bronze medallist Gyanender had a bad day in office as he lost out tamely to world champion Kenichiro Fumita of Japan. In the 60kg quarterfinal bout, Fumita defeated Indian in under 2 minutes by 9-0.
Earlier in the 82kg category, India’s Harpreet Singh Sandhu started the second day of the Sr. Asian Wrestling Championship on a positive note as he defeated Japanese Satoki Mukai by 6-1 but lost out the second round robin bout. The 82kg category is played on round-robin format and Harpreet still stands a chance to finish on the podium.
