Countries have imposed travel restrictions in the wake of the fast-spreading Coronavirus. The strict advisories have also affected training schedules of athletes including wrestling. While Indian wrestlers cannot travel abroad, there coaches are also not able to visit India. Sushil Kumar’s coach, Kamal Malikov is currently is Dagestan and cannot fly abroad due to the travel restrictions.
“There is no Coronavirus fear in Dagestan but we are not recommended to leave the country due to the travel restrictions,” he told WrestlingTV from Dagestan.

“I hope things get resolved soon,” he added.
The Russian coach also believes that instead of fearing the virus we should take precautions and change our lifestyle to stay healthy.
“We should concentrate on strengthening our immune system,” he said. Malikov, however is trying to make the most of this time. He is spending quality time with his family.
“Dagestan is the spiritual center of Russia. It is very peaceful here. We spend time and are planting trees,” he said. He also celebrated his birthday with his kids and seemed relaxed enjoying all the time with his dear ones.
Mallikov is not the only foreign coach who is not able to return to India to train. Deepak Punia and Ravi Dahiya’s coach Murad Gaidarov has also not been able to return to India due to Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, India’s women coach Andrew Cook, and Greco-Roman coach Temo Kazarashvili have also returned home to their respective families.
