The sport of wrestling is the national sport for Turkey and it is obvious the Turkish wrestlers and team management are not leaving any stone unturned in their preparations for the European Wrestling Championships. Turkey won unprecedented 16 medals at the last European championships in Romania and according to the President Musa Adin they are all geared up to repeat that historic performance at Rome.
“There is little time left for Tokyo Olympics. We will give our first important exam in Italy before the Olympics. We aim to be in the top three as a team in all categories in the European championship.
I always say that the main goal in Wrestling is always the Olympics. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, five of the 8 medals our country received came from wrestling. Turkish wrestling has caught a major leap with the Rio Olympics. We have achieved historical success in all International championships we have participated in in the last 4 years. That is the reason we want to better our performance at Rome, we should win more medals than last time “he said.
