Wrestling News: Geeta Phogat is working hard to return to wrestling. She is slowly getting back into the old routine from her wrestling days. Waking up early, going for long runs, mat training to healthy eating, everything is now back in her life. Phogat recently shared a video of her skipping in the gym. She posted the video on Instagram and quoted, “The body achieves what the mind believes”.
To make her comeback successful, she needs to tackle her weight first. In a webinar with WrestlingTV, the wrestler revealed that she is currently 78kg and will have to lose 16kgs. “I knew it would be hard. Whenever I would climb the weight machine, I could see the numbers going up each time. But somewhere I knew that if I had to wrestle again, I had to wrestle at the old weight category itself. All it needs is hard work and proper planning,” she said.
Phogat is looking for a comeback in the 62kg which features Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik and twin cadet world championship Sonam. However, she is confident that she will overcome these challenges. It remains to be seen who will be the best amongst them when WFI conduct trials next year ahead of the Olympic qualifiers.
