Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin-2020 : World Champions Zaurbek Sidakov, David Baev star attraction for prestigious wrestling event in Russia

The top Russian male wrestlers decided to give Rome Ranking series a miss but most of them will be lining up to battle out in Ivan Yarygin Wrestling Grand Prix starting from tomorrow in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. With exception of banned champion of the world in 97kg Abdulrashid Sadulaev almost every top name of the Russian wrestling will be in action along with the top names from other wrestling nations. 74kg world double world champion Zaurbek Sidakov, 70kg world champion David Baev will be the biggest attraction at the prestigious wrestling event according to the official platform of Russian wrestling.

Top Asian Nations including Japan, China, Kazakhstan confirms participation
In the first month of the Olympic season, the world’s leading national teams determine the rosters for participating in the upcoming qualifying tournaments in March and April for the missing quota places. For the wrestlers of Japan, China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix will be the last chance to seal their places for the Asian Olympic Qualifiers. Fresh from their exploits in the Rome Ranking Series, the Indian wrestling team will be skipping the event.

The Japanese team at Krasnoyarsk for the event consists of three world junior champions and U23 world champion Miho Igarashi, who will compete in the 50 kg category – the only one where the host country of the Games does not have a license.

The Chinese team who are yet to book quota places in women 62 and 68 kg has landed in Russia with one of their most upcoming and talented wrestler, the 2018 World Junior Champion Huang Yuanyuan.

The national team of Kazakhstan will be one of the largest at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix. Its quantitative composition is slightly inferior to the Russian team. Among those who will fight in Krasnoyarsk, it is worth noting the bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympic Games Ekaterina Larionova, the silver medalist of the Asian Games Zhyldyz Eshimova, the winners of the U23 world championships Marina Sedneva and the sisters Madina and Dzhamilya Bakbergenov are part of the squad.
USA team in Russia has landed with 2017 world silver medalist Thomas Gilman, as well as Vitaly Orujov, winner of the 2019 junior world championship. Other than wrestlers from Japan, China, USA, Kazakhstan and host Russia, wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Israel, Canada and Egypt will also be in action in this prestigious event beginning on Thursday.
