All-Japan team of male Greco-Roman wrestlers including the last month’s world championship (Kazakhstan) squad and U23 world championship (Hungary) squad started their training camp at Ajinomoto Training Center in Tokyo. Japan team which qualified for the world cup hosted by Iran starting from November 28th is clubbed with Uzbekistan, Georgia and Hungary in Group B.

Japan has qualified for the Greco-Roman world cup after a long gap of 25 years. The last time they played in the world cup was in 1994 that’s the reason they don’t want to leave any stone unturned in preparing for the mega event.

Masatoshi Toyoda coach said, “Senior players are all gung-ho about the World Cup. Japan will be participating in world cup after 25 years. I want to show my strength to the juniors and show the strength of Japan Greco-Roman. I hope that the success of the senior world championship will be taken over. We will do our best at the world cup in Tehran, Iran”
Right before the World Cup, the all Japan Championship will also be organized from where the final squad for the world cup and Olympic Game hopefuls will be selected.
Iran which will hosting 6th consecutive edition of the world cup is known for large crowds at the stadium during the event. More than 10,000 people come and cheer for the teams.
“The most popular sport in Japan is baseball and soccer but in Iran it is wrestling (Kushti). If you play in front of such a large crowd, that will be the best preparations for olympics” according to Toyoda.
