Haryana government is planning to hold state wrestling championship in January first week for the national championship. “We are planning to hold the state championship from January 8 to select wrestlers for the nationals,” Rajkumar Hooda, secretary of Haryana Wrestling Association said. However, there are a lot of logistical problems to organise it.
Hooda said that no one is currently ready to take the risk of organising the competition in the current situation. There is a possibility that the state competition is organised in Rohtak as it has controlled the COVID-19 spread efficiently.
“No organiser has so far agreed to the terms due to the strict COVID-19 protocols but we are optimistic of finding a solution to it soon.
“One of the locations shortlisted for now is Rohtak, as it has very efficiently controlled the COVID-19 spread in the region,” he said.
The state federation will hold a meeting with Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to discuss the matter.
