Hungary Wrestling Federation (HWF) has suspended 6 freestyle wrestlers for missing the national camp without any proper reason. Peter Bacsi, Director of MBSZ said: “11 of the 26 wrestlers showed up in the second week of the training camp in Miskolc. The rest did not appear. Even their own association did not know that they would not take part in the session. The wrestlers suspended are  István Veréb, Milán Mester, Patrik Szurovszki, Botond Lukács, Balázs Juhász and the heavyweight Mihály Nagy.

Meanwhile, the HWF had earlier this month decided to cancel the 2020 autumn competitions. In a meeting voted for the cancellation of all the domestic events except the cadet, junior and adult national championships.

Last month, United World Wrestling (UWW), due to the ongoing pandemic the EC voted to cancel all events planned for September and October, including the European Cadet Championship scheduled for 5-11 October in Poland and the European Junior Championship planned on 19-25 October 2020 in North Macedonia.

“We will continue to monitor the worldwide response to the pandemic,” said United World Wrestling president Nenad Lalovic. “We take seriously the responsibility to care for our athletes safety and health. When we have confidence they can compete with success we will wrestle again.”The EC will meet in the next month to further discuss the 2020 calendar and analyze next steps.
