Satyawart Kadian is the current national champion in the 97kg category but he still will start as underdog against the experienced Mausam Khatri. Reason, in the recent times every-time Kadian and Khatri has faced each other, the later has proved superior. Be it the trials for the 2019 world championship team or their last meeting in the 2018 nationals, Khatri reigned supreme.
So can this time 2019 Asian Championship bronze winner Kadian stop Khatri’s juggernaut. Whatever may happen but in all likelihood, the fight for a place in the Indian team in 97kg will all likely be a two horse race between Kadian and Khatri, though U23 national champion Akash Antil has strength to spring a surprise.
The Contenders in 97kg Category
