Individual World Cup Day 6 Preview: It is the penultimate day of the wrestling world cup and the COVID-19 effect has been quite evident on Indian wrestlers. They seemed out of practice and struggled to keep the momentum for six minutes. The only silver lining so far has been Anshu’s silver medal in 57kg women’s wrestling. The focus now shifts to 61kg and 86kg, where Rahul Aware and Deepak Punia respectively will vie for another world medal.

Aware will face Hungary’s Richard Vilhelm in the first round. However, it is the quarterfinal where he will truly be tested. If the Indian wrestler qualifies for the second round, he will square off against Asian Champion Ulukbek Zholdoshbekov of Uzbekistan.

Punia, on the other hand, will face Ivars Samusonoks of Latvia. Other biggies who will be vying for a podium finish in 86kg are Abubakr Abakarov (Aze), and Rasul Magomedovich (BLR).
