Bajrang Punia’s diet: According to Latestly report, Punia believes in eating good organic whole foods. He adds desi ghee (clarified butter), in most of his meals. The reason behind such a high-calorie intake is to keep the glycogen level high. This high glycogen level is required to produce Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) which will give act as the fuel for anaerobic training which he mostly performs.
Apart from this, dry foods are a staple to his diet, especially almonds. He even consumes four litres of milk which is necessary to get micro-nutrients such as Vitamin D, B1, B6 and B12 and calcium.
However, it is important to note the diet is directly proportional to the amount of training you do. Athletes like Punia spend hours in gym training cross-fit to lifting weights. A nutritious diet helps in recover well and help his performance. Each sport has different fitness goals and accordingly the diet plan is set.
Bajrang Punia’s workout: Most of Punia’s training sessions include cross-functional training. His day-to-day training plan is a mixture of strength, conditioning and body balancing exercises.
Just like any other wrestler the aim of the training is to develop power, strength, agility and endurance. Some of his favourite exercises are bicep curls, battle ropes, skipping, leg press and rope climbing.
If you want to become a wrestler, free bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats and Hindu push-ups are a must. Indian wrestlers are known for endurance and to build it long-distance running is a must, which you can begin doing after the lockdown ends.
