Iran has once again decided to call of the national training camp after a massive rise in Novel Coronavirus cases. The Iranian government on Wednesday had decided to resume the training behind closed doors. But with the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases they have again postponed the training camp which was scheduled to begin from March 17 at Martyr Ibrahim Hadi wrestling house.
“Despite the will and effort of the FEDF to accept responsibility for holding the adult freestyle wrestling national team camps, it is expedited to compete in Olympic races, according to the headquarters. Excellent fight against the coronavirus in sports and the need to comply with the announcements, the teams will be canceled on Saturday and will be announced in the coming days (Sic.),” Hasan Rangers, Iran Wrestling Federation spokesperson said in an official statement.

Iran is one of the worst-hit countries outside China and its Health Minister Saeed Namaki has advised the Iranians to reduce the use of paper banknotes. The Iranian government has canceled all the sports events as a precautionary measure against the epidemic. All the public gathering venues have also been shut across the country.
The Iranian federation said, “it will close all sporting events across the country including football leagues, all sports venues and club team training of this calendar year for now”.
The decision of whether to resume sports activities or not will be reviewed again in April.
The government has also urged the athletes and the general public to refrain to any travel until necessary.
In an Olympic year, no training for Iranian wrestlers and other athletes can be detrimental. The Asian country now stands on crossroads and are looking for ways to deal with the current situation.
