India has started on a disappointing note as both Naveen and Gyanender lost their opening rounds bouts to the Chinese opponents.
60 Kg – Erbatu Tuo (China) vs Gyanender (India)
Gyanender was up against the 2019 Asian Champion Erbatu Tuo of China. The Indian national champion in 60kg took the first point of the bout but Chinese came back strongly to take 5-1 lead. Gyanender tried making a comeback as he reduced the deficit to 3-5 but Chinese managed to hold his slender lead to win the bout 5-3.
130kg Qualification: Lingzhe MENG (CHN) bt Naveen (IND) by 7-0
Earlier India started on a disappointing note as Naveen lost out his opening round bout in the 130kg Greco-Roman category. Naveen was drawn to play Lingzhe Meng of China in the opener. Former Asian Junior runner-up Meng did not gave any chance to Naveen and won the bout 7-0.
