The holy town of Shirdi in Maharashtra hosted the Tata Motors Under 23 national wrestling championship from 27th Sep to 29th Sep. 500 male and 300 female wrestlers from 28 states vied for the national under 23 title in 10 weight categories in each of the freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s events over 3 days. The tournament further gained significance at it became the selection tournament to select the squad to represent India at the World U23 Wrestling Championships going to be held from October 28 – November 3 at Budapest, Hungary in 2019. Haryana once again reigned supreme by winning title in all 3 categories.
