India’s power-show continued on the last day of the Under 15 wrestling championships in Taichung, China. After super show by the girls yesterday, Indian boys were on a gold medal winning spree on the day 3 of the tournament. India won 5 gold medals & equal number of silver medals on the final day. With this India finished with maximum number of Gold medals in the championship with 13 Gold medals.

Freestyle Boys Team shine – wins all 4 gold medals

The day belonged to the Indian freestyle boys. The boys from India won all 4 gold medals courtesy Vishal (62kg), Sagar Jaglan (68kg), Deepak Chanal (75kg) & Jatin in (85kg) weight categories. Most impressive of the lot was Sagar in 68kg. Down by 6-1 against Bexultanov Yerkhan of Kazakhstan, Sagar made a remarkable turnaround in the last 20 seconds to win the bout 7-6 and gold for his country.

India’s domination in the championship can be gauged from the fact that all 10 Indian wrestlers in the freestyle category finished on the podium. This resulted in India finishing on top of the team rankings for the first time with 225 points. Kazakhstan finished 2nd and Japan number 3.

Greco-Roman – Harsh wins gold in 44kg

The performance of the Indian Greco-Roman team was one of the most pleasing aspect of the Indian performance in the Under 15 Asian Championships. Once again, India proved their mettle by winning 1 gold and 2 silver on the final day. For India Harsh was unbeatable in the 44kg category as he won all his bouts to win gold.

Greco-Roman Team Rankings – Kazakhstan (230) / India (204) / Chinese Taipei (130)

Under 15 Girls – 3 more silver medals for India

The exploits of Indian girls also continued on the final day but unlike on the day 2, 3 Indian girls on the mat could win only silver medals for the country. That is the reason in the overall rankings Japan finally pushed India to the second spot in the U15 Asian Girls team rankings. India finished with 212 points, Japan was top of the table with 225 points.
