India’s most impressive Greco-Roman wrestlers on the Day 5 of the competitions were without any doubt Sajan & Arjun Halakurki and both are again in action on the day 6 of the competitions in Budapest.
22 year old Arjun featuring in the repechage round of the 55kg category was not in his elements today. Arjun lost out in the repechage round to Norayr HAKHOYAN of Armenia to crash out of the event. Arjun lost 2-10 to the Armenian.
Like Arjun Sunil Kumar also featured in the repechage round of 87kg category. In the opening repechage round Sunil defeated Aleksandar STJEPANETIC of Sweden by 5-3. In the final repechage round Sunil was up against European U23 bronze medallist Ivan HUKLEK of Croatia. Sunil tried his best but eventually lost out to Croat 3-6 to crash out of the tournament.
India’s other Greco Roman representation at the U23 World Wrestling championships could not do much as they lost out opening encounters.

Sachin Rana (IND) VS Liguo Cao (CHN) Sachin crashes out in 82kg qualification round 5-2 at U23 World Wrestling Championships 2019
Neeraj (IND) VS Branko Kovacevic (SRB) Neeraj crashed out in 82kg qualification round by 10-1 losing out to Branko of Serbia.
Rahul (IND) VS Magomed Yarbilov (RUS) Rahul had to face opening round defeat in the 72kg qualification round.
Sachin Rana (IND) VS Liguo Cao (CHN) – Rana lost out to Chinese Liguo Can in the opening qualification round of 6okg category.
All eyes on Sajan – BATTLE FOR BROZNE
Sajan is lined up for the bronze medal bout in the 77 kg category. Sajan will be up against Serkan AKKOYUN of Turkey in the battle of bronze. The wrestler from Turkey is seasoned pro and current U23 European Championships Runner-UP. In case Sajan can defeat Akkoyun, it will be his fourth medal at the UWW World Championships level. 20 year old Indian already has 3 Junior world championships medal in his bag and the 4th one will make him India’s highest medal winner in all age group world championships for the country.
