The United World Wrestling (UWW) is considering three options for restarting the season, revealed Belcho Goranov, secretary-general of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and member of the UWW Legal Commission.
The world governing body is most optimistic to resume at the end of August, and most pessimistic after the New Year. There are opportunities for competitions to start in late autumn, but which option will be preferred depends on the epidemiological situation with the coronavirus around the world. The UWW Executive Committee will meet on June 30, reported Bulgaria Wrestling Federation media centre.
UWW had earlier asked all the national federations to send their suggestions to help them make the 2020 and 2021 calendar.
Last month, they had announced the venues for the Olympic Qualifiers. While the Asian Qualifiers will be held from March 26 to 29 in Xi’an, China, while the European will be hosted by Hungary from March 19 to 22 in Budapest. The African-Oceania will be organised by Morocco from March 13 to 15, while the World Qualifiers will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria from April 30 to May 3.
