The UWW World Wrestling Championship has got its first Gold medal winner. Nugzari TSURTSUMIA from Georgia broke the hearts of local fans as he defeated home favorite Khorlan Zhakansha to win the first Gold medal of the championship.

Tsurtsumia, the reigning U23 world and European champion was seeded third in the competition showed great skills to outwit the Kazakh wrestler 9-0 in one sided bout.

Reigning world champion and top seed Eldaniz Azizi from Azerbaizan (AZE) had to content with a bronze medal. Azizli defeated Max Nowry from USA in the bronze medal game. The second bronze of the 55kg category was won by young Japanese wrestler Shota Ogawa who defeated experienced Liguo Cao from China.
