After heartbreak on Day4, Vinesh Phoghat performed brilliantly to outwit first Yuliia Blahinya from Ukraine and then Sarah Hildebrandt of USA in repechage round. With this Vinesh will now not only play for bronze but she has also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Vinesh showed her real class and never say die spirit in her victory against world number 1 Sarah. Attacking right from the word go Vinesh did not give Sarah any chance and won the bout 8-2 against the American champion.
Vinesh will now play for the bronze medal in the evening session against Maria Prevolaraki from Greece. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Prevolaraki advanced until the quarter finals, taking the 10th place. The Greek girl defeated champion wrestlers from Netherlands, Mongolia & Ecuador in the earlier rounds. Going by the form book, Indian champion will start as favorite to win the bronze against Prevolaraki.
