The champion female wrestler of Indian wrestling Vinesh Phogat is not leaving stone unturned in her preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The 2019 world championships bronze medallist Phogat is training now a days in extremely demanding conditions of sub-zero temperatures at Belmeken High Mountain Sports Complex in Bulgaria. Other than the physical training sessions, Vinesh in Bulgaria has also got an unplanned opportunity to train with the world champion and wonder mom of world wrestling Maria Stadnik.

Stadnik won the world championship gold medal in Nur-Sultan after a gap of 10 long years and like Vinesh is also in Bulgaria training at the same complex. When both the champions met, they decided to be each other’s sparring partners during their stay at the complex. Vinesh was absolutely elated to meet the legendary champion and has posted pic with Stadnik on her social medal handles.

As reported by WrestlingTV earlier, Vinesh is training at the Complex located 2,050 metres above sea level between Rhodope Mountain and Rila Mountain in sub-zero temperatures which sometimes go down to -6 to -8 degrees. The aim is just to be in the best physical shape for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In an telephonic interview with WrestlingTV earlier, Vinesh had said, ‘Conditions here in Bulgaria are very tough but at the same time quite an experience for me. I have been following coach’s instructions and we do routine physical exercises especially mountain hiking is really tough here. I am also doing hill running and in evenings spending time in gym”.

Getting sparring sessions is bonus that Vinesh has got at the complex. According to the info with WrestlingTV no training session between the champions were planned, its just that they bumped into each other and decided to have some sparring sessions at the indoor training hall of the complex.

Just sample this – She won her first world championship Gold in 2009. Took a break in 2010 for the birth of her first kid came back in 2011 to win European Championship, 2012 London Olympic Medal. Took a break again in 2013 for the birth of her daughter Mia. Came back again in 2015 to win European games and Olympic medal in Rio 2016. The story doesn’t end there. After a mini break again in 2016-17, she again came back to the mat to conquer the world. This time by winning the world championship Gold in 2019. At the age of 31 and as a mother of two, when most of her wrestling peers are living a retired life, she won the world championship title once again after a gap of 10 years at NUR-Sultan in 2019.

Stadnik has unprecedented 7 European Championship Golds, 3 Olympic Medals, 6 world championship medals including 2 gold medals in her kitty. And the kitty keeps growing. Not only this, among her many accolades, Mariya Stadnik was also awarded the title of Best Woman Wrestler on the Planet by the International Wrestling Federation in 2011.
