World Military Games: Russia includes 3 world champions -Wrestling News

It can’t get bigger for the World Military Games in China. Russia has selected 3 current world championship gold medal winners from Nur Sultan 2019 in their squad for the games hosted by Wuhan, China. Russia has decided to field Gadzhimurad Rashidov (65kg world champion), Natalya Vorobyova (WW 76KG world champion) & Musa Yevloyev (GR 97Kg world champion) in the squad. All three won the world championship gold at the just concluded UWW Senior World Championship in Kazakhstan. Rashidov became the world champion in the category of 65kg where India’s Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal.

Earlier Turkey announced their team for the World Military Games. Like Russia, Turkey also included some of the biggest names like Riza Kayalp in the squad. Like Russian counterparts, Kayalp also won the gold at the 2019 world championship.

Though the games have already began in Wuhan, the wrestling competitions are scheduled from 20th October. Competitions will be held only in the Olympic weight categories, however, each country has the right to include only four participants in each style.
