United World Wrestling (UWW) President Nenad Lalovic will personally talk to the USA and Japan Wrestling official to reconsider their decision of withdrawing from the world wrestling championship. Due to this, the world body has decided to postpone its executive meeting scheduled for November 6, reported Iran Wrestling.
UWW was scheduled to meet this week to take a call on the worlds which are planned for Dember 12 to 20 in Serbia, Belgrade. But now the meeting has been rescheduled to November 12.
Reportedly, with the withdrawal of big names USA and the Olympics host country Japan, the executive members are hesitant to host the championship.
USA and Japan had withdrawn their participation due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Europe. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan too pulled out of the tournament on Wednesday.
It remains to be seen how successful Lalovic will be in hosting this year’s world championships in his home country, despite the widespread outbreak of the coronavirus.
