WWE News: There may be something huge brewing for the next WWE SmackDown episode between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus. The two in past weeks tried to belittle each other on every possible occasion and now might be in for something big as Sheamus will mark his return to Smackdown. The Celtic Warrior had missed out on last week’s episode and will most likely respond to Hardy’s win over King Corbin and this would set the stage for a ladder’s match at Extreme Rules.
How did Sheamus vs Jeff Hardy rivalry begin at WWE Smackdown?
The two have been in a constant quarrel which started during Intercontinental Championship qualifying match in May and it became more feverish when the two came head-to-head for the qualifying match.

On 12th June, blue brand in SmackDown for their controversial contract signing for their Backlash match before signing the contract when Sheamus deliberately agitated Jeff Hardy accusing him of taking drugs. As Jeff Hardy could not handle the insult, he in return splashed a liquid which is believed to be his ‘urine’. This moment heated up in SmackDown and ended up being one the Backlash 2020 match card. Sheamus defeated Hardy in the match.
Hardy’s angry reaction at last week’s WWE Smackdown
Following his loss to the Celtic Warrior at Backlash, Jeff Hardy responded to Renee Young at Backstage via WWE network on 19th June saying, “lays out road to redemption against Sheamus, and says I am not done yet”. To Hardy’s response, Sheamus took a dig at every occasion in the following week on WWE SmackDown.
Currently, both these superstars ain’t going to let each other go and as the rumour surmounted.
However, last week at SmackDown during the Undertaker’s ‘the last ride’ screening Sheamus was supposed to be there to roast Jeff Hardy once again but that did not happen. As a result, Hardy battled it out with King Corbin who had insulted the Undertaker. Hardy won the match and sent out a message to Sheamus that he could be the next.
Extreme Rules set up
WWE had recently posted on their Twitter account recently “The #CelticWarrior @WWESheamus has a toast for @JEFFHARDYBRAND in mind for this Friday’s #SmackDown at 8/7c on @FOXTV!,” dropping hint of the Celtic Warrior’s return.
This week’s SmackDown will likely bring the best out of these two stars as both of them would like to release some heat. If the rumours are believed, the two can have a ladders match at Extreme Rules 2020.
