The USA dominated Day 1 of the Pan-American Championship held at Ottawa, Canada. It won three gold in 55kg, 72kg and 97kg. The USA is at the top with 130 points. On the second place is Cuba with 70 points courtesy of two golds in 67kg and 130kg and one silver in 97kg.
Similar to Day 1, the second day will also showcase some big stars in both Greco and Women wrestling.
In 77kg category, USA’s Patrick Smith is the fan favourite while in 82kg Venezuela’s Luiz Rojas is expected to bag gold. In the 87kg weight class, Cuba’s Daniel Hechavarria is the top contender for a first-place podium finish.
As for women wrestling, Brazil’s Karoline Silva is the wrestler to look out for on Day 2.
The first day saw action in six Greco weight classes, while day 2 will feature bouts in the remaining three – 77kg, 82kg, and 87kg. In Women wrestling, only the 59kg category wrestlers will take to the mat.

-Patrick Smith (77kg):
The USA player a two time Pan American Championships in 2016 and 2017. Patrick also won the 2019 Pan American Games gold and will be hoping to win another silverware in Ottawa.
-Luiz Avendano Rojas (82kg):
The Venezuelan is the current defending champion in the Pan American Championships 87kg Greco. The 2020 Rome Rankings Series Bronze medallist is the favourite to win gold in his category.
-Daniel Gregorich Hechavarria (87kg):
The 2018 Pan American Championships gold medallist from Cuba is the strongest contender for a podium finish. He has also won the U23 World Championships silver and bronze medals in 2018 and ’19 respectively.
Karoline Silva De Santana (59kg):
The 2019 Pan American bronze medallist from Brazil is considered the top contender to bag a gold this year in women wrestling. She is also the South American Championship gold medallist.
