Gaurav is born in 1-10-2001 in Shorn Village, Muzaffarnagar. He started at Wrestling at the age of 8 in his village in 2009. In 2013, he started training under Nirdosh Baliyan in his Akhara in Shahpur Village in 2013. Gaurav lost his Father to cancer when he was just 6 years old. In the same year, during the Muzaffarnagar riots, Nirdosh Baliyan’s Akhara at the Shahpur Government College was also one of the affected places and as a result, all the wrestlers training there including Gaurav had to leave and go back. Gaurav went back to his village and lost all hope of becoming a top wrestler but six months after the riots, Nirdosh Baliyan took a loan to rebuild his Akhara and since then, there has been no way back for him. Gaurav’s mother works in Anganwadi and his two Brothers are looking for a job. He wants to make his mark in wrestling so that he can help them.
