The new coach for the world championship medallists Deepak Punia and Ravi Dhaiya has arrived in India. Murad Gaidarov, the Olympic Silver medallist from Belarus has arrived in India to train the Indian champions for Mission Tokyo 2020.
WrestlingTV was present when both Punia and Dhaiya met their coach for the first time after his arrival in India. Coach was welcomed by both his wards on his arrival in India and the plan is to kickstart Mission 2020 Olympic training program with the new coach with immediate effect.
Murad who hails from Belarus has decided to spend sometime with his new trainees at the Chatrasal Stadium itself. According to the new coach, acclimatize himself with the surroundings and the existing training schedules of both Deepak and Ravi. After watching them closely for few days, he will design the Olympic 2020 plan for them.
Not only Ravi & Deepak, but double olympic medallist Sushil Kumar was also present when the new coach arrived at the stadium. Sushil was seen introducing Murad to the coaching staff, facilities and trainees at the stadium.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is not leaving any stone unturned as far as the preparations for their wrestlers for Tokyo 2020 is concerned.
Deepak and Ravi have both qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after stupendous show at the World Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. Deepak created history by entering the world championship finals in the 86kg weight category on his debut attempt. Ravi, who also was playing his first senior world championships impressed everyone by winning bronze medal at the world championships. Indian wrestling’s wonder boys will now prepare for the Olympics under the watchful guidance of champion coach Murad Gaidarov.
WFI aided by support from their principal sponsors Tata Motors & commercial partners Sporty Solutionz is going all out to provide the best of preparatory facilities to their wrestlers so that they can perform at the global level events. This support led India to win record number of 5 medals at the recently concluded world championships in Nur-Sultan. Not only this, 4 of these medals led to India booking 4 Olympic quota licenses.
Meanwhile with Gaidarov’s arrival now, the preparations for Tokyo 2020 will kickstart.
