The champion of the world and the most followed wrestler all around the globe, Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia has announced his comeback to the competitive wrestling. The Russian Tank was banned for four months by United World Wrestling for wearing a T-shirt depicting religious and political messaging during the 2019 world championships in Nur-Sultan in September. Since then Sadulaev has stayed away from the competitive wrestling as he was serving the four month ban.
The five time world and Olympic champion Sadulaev has announced via his Instagram account that his four month ban is over now and he is all geared up for the European Wrestling Championships in Rome starting from 10th February.
Sadulaev said, “My deadline for my disqualification is expired and in next two weeks I will come back at the European Championships. I am training very hard with my team in Novgorsk and our preparations are in the final stage”

Sadulaev had to stay away from the competitive wrestling after the world championship ban due to UWW ban. He not only missed out on Russian domestic competitions but also the year’s 1st ranking series event in Rome. Sadulaev also could not participate in just concluded Ivan Yariguin Grand Prix at home. Despite of staying away from the mat since last 4 months, the world’s most popular wrestler will start as favorite to win his fourth European Championship Gold in Rome. He earlier had won gold medals in European Championship in 2014, 2018 and 2019.
