Bajrang Punia will get an opportunity to settle scores with one of his fiercest rivals – Deulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan – at the upcoming Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi next week.
Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation has included Deulet Niyazbekov in its freestyle squad for the February 18 to 23 championships.
Niyazbekov, the most formidable in the Kazakhstan contingent, will be competing in the 65 kg freestyle category. The grappler, a major nemesis of Bajrang, had controversially knocked out the Indian in the World Championship semi-finals in Nur-Sultan last year.
If the two wrestlers clash, the match-up would be like an early final in the weight category with Punia eyeing revenge.
