A commanding performance in the semi-finals by Nirmala Devi made sure that she goes through to the finals. Nirmala defeated Uzbekistan’s wrestler Dauletbike Yakhshimuratova by 10-0. Three-time Commonwealth Championship gold medallist, Nirmala Devi will play against 2018 Under 23 World Champion Miho IGARASHI of Japan for the gold medal match in the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships 2020.

Both the wrestlers will be eyeing their first Asian Championships gold medal later in the day.
The 32 year old from India is making comeback to the international arena after career defining injury to her shoulder and is now on the verge of creating history. By winning the gold medal in evening Nirmala can become only second women gold medallist from India in the history of Asian Wrestling championships. Earlier in 2018, Navjot Kaur won India’s only gold at the Asian Championships.
Before making to the finals in style, Nirmal first defeated Munkhnar Byambasuren of Mongolia in the quarterfinals in an closely fought contest. She beat the Mongolian 6-4 to reach the semis. In the semi-finals she got the better of Dauletbike YAKHSHIMURATOVA of Uzbekistan by 10-0.
In the finals Nirmala will be up for tough and tenacious opponent in form of Igarashi. The 2018 Under 23 World Champion created a huge upset by defeating 2019 world bronze medallist Valentina Islamova of Kazakhstan.
