The nation-wide lockdown due to coronavirus crisis shows no signs of ending soon. Given the current situation, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and its Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Secretariat have decided to provide any equipment to wrestlers they need to train at their doorstep.

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has been facilitated with a kabaddi mat which he now uses to train. He said,” Yes, they have provided me with a Kabaddi mat. I know, it is not wrestling at but it will still help me”.

A total of 107 athletes including para-athletes were selected for their requirements towards training at home. The equipment was collected from SAI regional centres as per the athletes’ requirements, Times of India reported.

Indian Greco-Roman wrestler Sunil Kumar was provided with dietary supplements to help him fulfil his nutritional needs.

The WFI had earlier released a list of 39 wrestlers across Greco, and men and women freestyle who will be called to attend the camp. The venue of men’s wrestling will be SAI centre, Sonepat. However, the women’s training camp might be moved out of Lucknow, as the city has become a hotspot for coronavirus cases.
