After 40 days, the gates of Chhatrasal Stadium were re-opened. Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar re-opened the stadium’s office under strict order from the Delhi government, reported the RepublicTV. The wrestler, however, has distanced himself from the decision of whether it was right or wrong to open the stadium and says he has just followed the government guidelines.
“I had to open the Chhatrasal Stadium under Delhi government’s order or direction. I work under them. I have to obey the direction of the Delhi government that the office of Chhatrasal Stadium has been reopened after 40 days. We have resumed the services with just one-third workforce as directed by the authorities. However, the office will only restart after proper sanitization. No athlete is allowed to enter the stadium as sports activities remain suspended,” he told RepublicTV.

“On the first day, there will be cleaning and sanitization of the offices. I will personally see to it that everything is being done with the utmost care. It is my responsibility that everything is in order. We want to be social but at the same maintain social distancing. I am personally monitoring everything,” he added.
Kumar said that since there can be no sparring due to the current scenario, keeping fully fit is the priority. Therefore, “I focus on fitness, exercise and weight training”. He urged other wrestlers to do the same and concentrate on individual training but with precautions in mind. “They should train in isolation and far away from each other. And wherever they train they should train it after full sanitization,” he concluded.
