The Kyrgyzstan government has decided not to send any of its wrestlers for foreign competitions and training stints in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. Wrestlers will not be allowed to travel to the countries where positive Coronavirus cases have been registered, reported Kyrgyzstan’s official wrestling platform.
The director of the State Agency and regional departments for youth, physical education and sports Kanat Amankulov has also instructed all the sports institutions of Kyrgyzstan to exercise caution and ensure compliance with sanitary norms in all sports facilities.
The decision to restricts athletes foreign travel is a precautionary measure to reduce the Coronavirus risk.
The Kyrgyzstan government last week wrote to the United World Wrestling (UWW) denying to host the Asian Olympic Qualifiers. Originally scheduled to be held in Xi’an, China, the qualifiers were moved to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan after cases of Coronavirus were reported in China.
The Asian Qualifiers will now reportedly be held in April but the venue is still unknown. However, there is still no official statement from the United World Wrestling (UWW).
