In connection with the threat of the spread of coronavirus, the 8th International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament in memory of Olympic champion Roman Dmitriev, which was supposed to be held on March 6-8 in Yakutsk, is postponed indefinitely. This decision was made at an emergency meeting of the operational headquarters of the government of the republic to prevent the import and spread of coronavirus infection in Yakutia. The news of the cancellation of the event has been confirmed by the official platform of Russian wrestling, WRESTRUS.RU.

Instead of the wrestling event, now the local organizing committee will organize a cultural show in the memory of legendary wrestlers. On March 6, a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Roman Dmitriev will be held on Komsomolskaya Square, and a performance dedicated to the birthday of Roman Dmitriev will be shown on the Sakha stage of the Platon Oyunsky Academic Theater on the initiative of the Zhigansky district administration. And on March 10-11, the III Scientific and Practical Conference “Dmitriev Readings – The Science of Winning” will be held at the School of Olympic Reserve
