The Wrestling Canada Lutte has cancelled all the events that were to be held this year citing safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 crisis. The wrestling body has rescheduled the Junior, U17, U19, Senior Canadian Championships as well as the 2020 Canada Cup to 2021.
Each event will be held next year in the same host city that was slated to run the events in 2020.
The Junior / Senior Championships will take place in London, Ont. in March, the U17 / U19 Championships & Cadet Trials will be in Edmonton in March or April, and Canada Cup will return to Calgary in June.
Each event will be run in the same format as was scheduled for 2020. Dates for the three events will be announced in the coming months.
In March, WCL announced the postponement of the two Canadian Championships.
Canada Cup was the last international level wrestling event scheduled to take place in Canada in 2020.
WCL is waiting for the remainder of the international calendar to be released before determining what events will remain and/or be added to the domestic calendar in 2020. More information will be available in the coming weeks.
