The lockdown due to coronavirus has made wrestlers worldwide creative. While they are away from the mat, the grapplers are using this time to do something innovative and fun. The most common amongst all is taking up different social media challenges. Olympic Champion Erica Wiebe, for instance, has been actively participating in almost all the tasks that are coming her way. After taking part in a few of them, she posted a compilation video of it.
The clip is in a story format which opens with the Canadian wrestler getting bored in the lockdown. It is while sitting on the couch that she decides to do something fun. She says, “You put an ambitious, high energy athlete alone for a couple of days/weeks/months and this is what happens. You know I love chasing challenges and due to the current circumstances I’ve had a bit of extra downtime to get a little creative during recent times”.
She has also requested her fans to have fun in anything they take up to spend time at home. “My only request is whatever you do, wherever you are, remember to have fun and get moving in whatever way works for you let me know what you’re doing to stay happy/healthy. We’re in this together.”
The 2016 Olympic gold medallist from USA Helen Maroulis recently also took part a social media challenge called “DontRushChallenge”. It is called Don’t Rush because the videos are set to the song of the same name bu Young T & Bugsey.
The whole essence of the challenge is to gather your besties (virtually) and show off your best transformations from your sitting-at-home wear to your going-out looks within seconds.
