As expected Russia has decided to rest all of their World championships medallists in 2019 as they had announced their Greco-Roman squad for the European Wrestling Championships beginning in Rome on 10th February. Sergey Emelin (60kg Silver), Stepan Maryanyan (63kg Silver), Artem Surkov (67kg Silver), Abuyazid Mantsigov (72kg Gold), Musa Evloev (97kg Gold) all have been omitted from the European Championships squad of Russia. Instead, the head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili has included all winners of the 2020 Russian championship in the squad for Rome event. In weight up to 77 Islam Opiev will go to the European Championship, Alexander Komarov in weight up to 87 kg, and Zurabi Gedehauri in the category up to 130 kg.
