Wrestling News: Former Bulgarian wrestler Nikolay Shterev passed away at 33 in the wee hours of Wednesday due to Covid-19 at the Military Medical Academy. He was the son of famous wrestler and coach Shterev. Nikolay had ended his career but returned to make his dream of competing in the Olympics come true. Last year, however, he was tested positive for a banned substance, which practically ended his career. He then said that the banned stimulant got into his body from a preparation he used to lose weight.
“I see my future in wrestling,” he said at the time. “My whole life has been on the mat, I have dreams, and why not be a coach in time,” he had said back then.His funeral will be held on Friday, July 17, at 1 pm in the Prince’s Church St Prophet Elijah.
