With the Tokyo Olympics less than a year away, many countries have announced dates for their domestic competitions. Hungary was the first to resume competitions with their beach wrestling tournament. Russia is planning to resume its wrestling calendar from September, while the USA will kick-start the events from October.
Meanwhile, United World Wrestling (UWW) has updated its 2020 calendar with competitions resuming from September. The biggest event of the year is the world championships which will be held in December in Serbia.
– Russia to resume from September:
The Russian Wrestling Federation has announced the dates and location for the national championships. The Russian Championships were postponed in the wake of covid-19 and will now be held in October. Earlier, it was decided that the venue would be Moscow but now it has been moved to Vladikavkaz.
Meanwhile, it will be hosting the Juniors Russian Nationals in Naro-Fominsk from September 8 to 14.
– USA national championship in October:
USA Wrestling has finalized the schedule and posted an official event website for the Senior Nationals, which will be hosted at the new Xtream Arena & GreenState Family Fieldhouse in Coralville, Iowa, October 9-11.
The schedule features three days of competition, which will showcase the nation’s top international-style wrestlers, competing in the three Olympic disciplines: men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Hungary had resumed its competitions with Beach wrestling championships which was held in July at Bay Music Beach in Esztergom-Kertváros for U14, U18 and adults.
