Hungary resumes competitions with Beach Wrestling Championship

Although not for normal people, the beach season has returned for wrestlers. Hungary has resumed its competitions with Beach wrestling championships which was held on Saturday at Bay Music Beach in  Esztergom-Kertváros for U14, U18 and adults.
Beach wrestling, which became an official discipline in the early 2000s, has now been included in the 2022 and 2026 Youth Olympics, and it is also proposed to be part of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, at this year’s ‘ob series’ event, many wrestlers will be travelling from across the country, to take part. Zsanett Németh, the European silver medalist and two-time U23 European champion, has already proved her worth in this field with the second place at last year’s Doha Beach World Games, she won the +70 kilos fight of adult women according to the paper form. One lower, at 70 pounds, the Eb-3 and also U23 continental champion Ramamba Galambos triumphed, beating Anna Olympic and junior European Championship silver medalist Anna Szél in a big battle. Among the 80 kg men, the U23 European Champion winner, Zoltán Lévai, the second at this year’s European Championship, instructed the other members of the 11-man field, and at the 90 kg, the ever-young veteran world champion, Olympic and World Championship bronze medalist Gábor Hatos to ultimate victory.

The ‘ob wrestling series will be held on August 1 in Balatonfüred and at  Lupa Beach in Budakalász on August 15.
