Indian sports federations, athletes make huge donations to PM-CARES fund to combat Coronavirus pandemic

As India continues its fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, people from all walk of life including sportspersons and organisation have stepped in to contribute to PM CARES Fund.

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund was set up by the central government of India in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. Ever since its launch, many people have donated to the PM-CARES fund.

Here is the list of people and organisations who have contributed so far towards the efforts to combat the crisis in India.

-Nation Sports Federations:

Hockey India has made the highest contribution amongst all the sports federation. It has donated Rs one crore to the PM-Cares Fund. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) contributed Rs 25 lakh while the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has made a total donation of Rs 11 lakh. The total donation made by all the federations combined is Rs 2.4 crore of Rs 240.26 lakhs.

The Uttaranchal, Kerala and Bengal Olympic Associations are the top three contributors amongst the state associations. While Uttaranchal has made the highest donation with Rs 5 lakhs, Kerala and Bengal have made Rs 3 lakhs each. The total donation by state sporting bodies is Rs 28.26 lakh.
