Wrestling News: 2012 London Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt has called for the cancellation of ‘self-nomination process’ related to Arjun Award and Khel Ratna amongst other national games award. He says that the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Sports Federations have performance record of each player. Hence, that is what they take into consideration to decide on their own which player should be regarded, reported Sportsgrasp.
As per the current rules, athletes fill their forms and send them to the Sports Ministry on their own.

Rules for Arjuna Award and Khel Ratna
Athletes are selected for them on the basis of their last four years performance. They are then awarded points on the basis of their medals. For winning gold in Olympics, the athlete gets 40 points, for silver 30 and for bronze it is 20 points.

WFI has nominated Asian medallist Vinesh Phogat for the second time in a row for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award 2020. As for the Arjun Award 2020, the Indian governing body has recommended World medallist Deepak Punia and Rahul Aware, Asian medallist Sakshi Malik, Sandeep Tomar and Naveen.
