Wrestling News: The Russian freestyle wrestling championship is planned to be held on September 18-29 in Moscow. Originally scheduled for April the event was cancelled in the wake of covid-19.

The Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) vice-president Arsen Fadzaev in an interview said that the choice of Moscow was conditioned by the epidemiological situation. The pandemic is controlled, and the numbers are dropping each day.

“Moscow is also supported by the fact that there are more opportunities to provide all the necessary sanitary and preventive safety conditions for the participants in the competition. The issue of the arena, where the championship will take place, and whether spectators will be allowed into the stands has not yet been resolved – this will become known closer to September,” he added, reported a Ukraine News Daily.

The planned Russian championship will act as the national trials to select the wrestlers for the Tokyo Olympics and the upcoming world championships is scheduled for December.
