United World Wrestling’s (UWW) incumbent president Nenad Lalovich is all set to be reappointed. According to the world governing body, the Serbian is running for the UWW elections unopposed. It means he is virtually decided to retain the office.
Lalovic had replaced Rafael Martini as the UWW President in February 2013. He was re-elected as chairman at the September 2014 general meeting and will complete his six-year term in September this year. According to the current UWW regulations, the election of the chairman is decided by a vote of the general assembly by recruiting candidates for the current directors who served at least one term (six years). It reported that he will be re-elected at the next general meeting because he is the only candidate running for the post.
In August 2015, he was appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after the chairman of the International Football Federation resigned. In November of the same year, he entered the Commission of the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a representative of the IOC, and in February 2018, became the first director of the IOC from the wrestling world. Strengthening the connection between UWW and IOC.
The general meeting was scheduled to take place there before the World Junior Championships (Serbia) scheduled for September, but because the championship was postponed in December, the new coronavirus pandemic (a global epidemic). It is decided while watching the situation.
