2016 Rio Olympic gold medallist Hassan Yazdani’s father Hossein’s health has worsened after getting infected by Coronavirus. According to a report by an Iranian news daily Ko6ti.ir, Yazdani’s brother, who was a bank employee had contracted the virus first. Then it got spread to other members of the family including Hossein is in a worse condition.
Last month, Yazdani’s father was put in quarantine for a few days after he was diagnosed positive for the deadly virus. Concerned about his father, Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia had also messaged Yazdani.
“I messaged him on Saturday night. We had a good talk. I asked how his father was doing as he had been diagnosed with Coronavirus. It was worrying news but I am glad his father is now recovering,” he had told WrestlingTV.
But the latest report by Ko6ti.ir suggests that his health has worsened. An official statement is yet to made by the world champion and his family.
Meanwhile, Yazdani who was living with his father at his Juybar, Mazandaran Province has returned to training after recovering from a knee injury. He is training at a training centre with fellow wrestlers Iman Sadeghi and Ali Shabani.
Iran is one of the worst-hit countries out of China form COVID-19. They have so far registered over 74,800 cases. The death toll has reached to more than4,600. Iran is under complete lockdown with all the sporting events cancelled as a precautionary measure.
