Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games bronze medallist Jenny Fransson of Sweden has tested positive for doping. Her A sample has been tested positive for the methyltestosterone anabolic steroid
Fransson has denied taking any banned substance. A medal hopeful for the Tokyo 2020 Games, she is suspecting a sabotage. She alleged that someone must have planted the substance in her food or drink.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Olympic Committee has temporarily omitted her name from the Tokyo Olympic Games squad. A final decision will be made after the results of the B Sample.

The 32-year-old had made it to the 68 kg final of the Nur-Sultan UWW World Championships last year. Besides the Olympic bronze and the Nur-Sultan World Championships silver, she also has under her belt the 2019 World Championship gold as well as a European Championships crown and two bronze medals.
She currently is placed second in the 68 kg category of the UWW rankings. “ I have not taken steroids deliberately. The only explanation I find is that someone who has been to the gym has done this to me”, Fransson said. When asked if she had anyone in mind who could have done this, Fransson said that she couldn’t think of any enemies.
The Swedish Olympic body too is shocked over the development. “It is a very serious situation. That this would happen to her is something totally unexpected, a bolt from the blue,” Peter Reinebo, operations manager of the Swedish Olympic Committee, while advising to wait for the results of the B-test to return. “It can be a mistake, and then it’s tragic in one way. And if it’s not a mistake, it’s tragic in another way”.
Her fate now hangs on the outcome of the test of her B sample. Any negative result will shatter the Olympic dreams of the veteran, who might be gunning for her last chance at the Games glory in Tokyo.
