Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will put wrestlers, coaches and support staff under quarantine for 14 days when they join the national camp. The SAI centres will be turned into quarantine quarters for the wrestlers. WFI said that if needed the government will help in the testing process.
“The national camp will resume after the lockdown ends. They all will be quarantined at SAI centres for 14 days. If testing will be required. govt will provide all requirement at the centres,” said WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.

A total of 39 wrestlers from Olympic weight categories (15 men and women freestyle grapplers and nine Greco-Roman) have been shortlisted for the training camp which will resume after the lockdown ends.
So far India for Olympic quotas. Ravi Dahiya (57kg), Bajrang Punia (65kg), and Deepak Punia (86kg) have qualified in men’s freestyle, while Vinesh Phogat (53kg) is the sole female wrestler to have qualified.
Before the national lockdown, the women wrestlers trained at SAI Centre, Lucknow, while men’s camp was in Sonipat. However, WFI is open-minded about exploring other options if the lockdown gets extended.
“As of now, the lockdown will end by May 17. But we will wait for the final decision before making any decision. We are open to exploring all the option but only after reviewing the situation post-lockdown,” Tomar added.
