The three time age group world medallist Sajan is considered as one of the most promising Greco-Roman wrestlers of the country. The cadet and Junior world medallist justified the tag as he defeated the national champion of Italy in the opening round of 77kg in the Rome Ranking Series today. Sajan defeated Luca Dariozzi of Italy 8-0 to make it to the quarterfinals.

Sajan’s teammate Gurpreet decided to play in the 82kg instead of 77kg and won his opening bout in style against Florian Neumaier of Germany.

Earlier Anshu also made a winning start in the 57kg as she defeated Maria Victoria Dilone of Spain 10-0. The Indian champ is making her debut in the senior category through this tournament and is now drawn to take on 2019 World Champion Linda Morais of Canada.

Big test for Sonam – Like Anshu Sonam will make her debut today in the senior category. The two time cadet world champion Sonam made it to the Indian team after shocking Sakshi Malik in the WFI trials and will take on U23 World medallist Macey Ellen KILTY (USA).

Divya Kakran will be in action in the 68kg category after winning the WFI trials and has 2019 world champion Tamyra Mensah (USA) in her weight.
