India’s Sajan has created history in the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. Sajan has entered the semi-finals to become the first ever Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to book a last 4 place at the U23 World Wrestling. In the 77kg category quarterfinal bout Sajan defeated Per Albin OLOFSSON of Sweden. 3 time world junior champion medallist was down 0-2 at one point of time but came back strongly to defeat the Swede 6-2. Earlier Sajan defeated Tunjay VAZIRZADE of Azerbaijan in the last 16 bout and American Jesse Porter in the opening qualification round.

55kg – Heart-break for brave Arjun Halakurki, loses to Russian champion in last seconds
Rarely you see the scene what the Indian fans witnessed today in Budapest i.e Indian Greco Roman wrestler getting better of Russian wrestler, the global powerhouse of the Greco-Roman form of wrestling. But debutant Arjun made the same possible. He dominated the 2017 Under23 world bronze winner Emin Narimanovitch SEFERSHAEV of Russia in an absolute thriller till the last 25 seconds of the bout. He was up by 13-9 at that point of time. But the Russian came back with the most adventurous rarely seen on the wrestling mat and had a last laugh.
Earlier Arjun played another thriller. Indian was making his debut in UWW world event but that did not deter him to give one of the most energetic performance of the U23 World wrestling championships. Up against Giovanni Freni of Italy, Arjun moved like man possessed. The balance of the bout swung like pendulum in favor of both Indian and the Italian. Scores at one point of time were level at 9-9. Freni who has won Cadet world championship gold in 2015 in the end gave up against the energy and agility of Arjun to lose 9-13.
